General Info.
With the Youth Academy receiving much attention with the communities within the DFW Metroplex, there are a number of baseball and softball athletes that attend. Kids from all different backgrounds and skill levels come out to try and better themselves, not only as an athlete but also as a person. This is, in my opinion, a once in a lifetime opportunity, to be apart of something so impacting for young kids. I am really looking forward to what is to come from this internship.

General Hours
My hours are different every day based on the events we have scheduled for the week. However I work anywhere between 25-40 hours per week. Wednesday are the busiest days because we have a department meeting in the morning and then we come to the academy where we have games scheduled for the rest of the day. The general days of operation are Monday-Thursday and Saturday.
Main Duties
The main duties that I have been assigned for this internship include:
- Assisting in the execution of the RBI season
- Developing plans for baseball and softball instruction
- Assisting as a primary contact for special events at the Academy and Globe Life Park
Compensation
I am fortunate enough to work for an organization that appreciates their interns enough to pay them for their time. Even though it is not much I am paid $9 per hour and receive a direct deposit every 15 days.
Goals
For the duration of this internship, I have a few goals. The first is to impact the lives of as many kids as possible. I will be interacting with student athletes everyday. I hope to leave a lasting impact on their lives, not only as players but as people.
The second goal is to leave an impression on the organization as a whole. I hope that my education and my experience playing will give the edge I need to successfully do my job, but also impress enough people that this could turn into a full time position.
The third and final goal is to leave the Academy better than it was when I arrived. I am currently working on a project that could be a huge money maker for years to come. I am voluntarily creating a fundraiser and will present my idea to my boss once I have it completed. I hope that this will give the Academy the opportunity to continue running the fundraiser annually. Every dollar of this fundraiser would be given back to the kids to improve their experiences at the Academy.

Expected Learning Outcomes
With this internship, I am expecting to learn the ins and outs of the organization. The Academy operates as a nonprofit, so I expected to learn how that works and what needs to be done to successfully run a nonprofit. I also expect to learn how I can be a better role model to kids and young athletes. We have so many events and opportunities for coaches and parents to attend that I expect I will pick up some helpful tools along the way.
